Our Mission

mission

Clydesdale Group was formed out of the conviction that the best service that hopeful entrepreneurial Afghans can render to their country is to succeed in the private sector by building a profitable enterprise in competitive partnership with the world’s finest companies. The miseries of the Afghan people can only be eradicated if employment opportunities are created on a large scale. No other field of economic endeavor in Afghanistan offers the promise of creating so many employment opportunities – so quickly – as manufacturing and construction do.

Therefore, Clydesdale Group maximizes the impact of its projects by ensuring that overhead, G&A, and other back-office spending remain in Afghanistan, and that a significant portion of profit is re-invested inside the country on infrastructure. The positive domino effect of this approach will be phenomenal.

Welcome to Clydesdale Group

Clydesdale Group was originally established in 1956 in the heart of Kabul under the name “Taufiq” after its founder’s name – Mr. Taufiq. The main products of this company at the time were winter clothes, apparels, uniforms, garments and accessories.

After years of civil war and political struggle in Afghanistan in the 1990s, when peace was established in 2001, the third generation Taufiqs managed to reopen the doors of the company. Ever since, the company has changed its name to Clydesdale Group, has implemented fundamental enhancements in infrastructure, has invested millions of dollars, has hired hundreds of Afghan citizens and has expanded its operations to 500% of those in the 90s.

Most significantly, the company has expanded its business spectrum and has positioned itself as the turnkey solution for large-scale manufacturing, construction, logistics, procurement, and project management ventures in Afghanistan and in the surrounding region. Clydesdale Group is the first Afghan-incorporated, Afghan-owned with capacity, blending Afghan know-how and relationships as well as American best practices in management, engineering, design, safety, transportation, procurement, security, and corporate governance.

Clydesdale Group approaches every project with the understanding that close coordination with local affiliates and personnel is preeminent in success and that every region of Afghanistan requires a unique incorporation of local culture and customs. As a result, Clydesdale Group has set the industry standard within the country for conducting its operations in the most trying conditions and continue to challenge itself and the industry through the ongoing development of innovative approaches and solutions.

Clydesdale Group being one of the oldest clothing manufacturing companies in Afghanistan, has developed the capability to make 100% of its products inside Afghanistan whether they are its own brand names for the local markets or ordered items for its small and big clients, such as the US Military, Afghan Governmental Agencies, NGO’s and subcontractors.

Although we have hired a limited number of experts from the countries in the region to diversify our talent pool of workers, the majority of our staff, management and production, come from within Afghanistan and the majority of those are females.
